The WVDOT Open Data Portal is new way to make the GIS data and mapping services accessible to the Public and other government agencies. These open data initiatives increase transparency and allow citizens to use data as a raw material and to create new content. WVDOT Open Data site can be reached at https://data-wvdot.opendata.arcgis.com . Functionalities of the Open Data includes (1) Feature Datasets, (2) Featured Applications (3) Featured Maps, and (4) External Data. Feature Datasets contains a menu of six categories of WVDOT data: Assets, Boundaries, Roads, Safety (sign type and location), Traffic Data (AADT), and Trails. The Featured Applications section contains a link to eight of the most frequently used DOT web mapping applications: Airport Locations, County Maps, Geometry & Measures, Grants, MS4 Inspection, Park and Ride Locations, Provis, and River Port Locations. The Maps Section include static WVDOT maps that can be viewed, downloaded, and printed by clicking on the map. The External Data section includes links to WVDOT website and the Rest services.
